A little bit about us
I think It’s fair to say I’m not like most other pillions in the respect of I find myself constantly poking Nigel in the back and saying “go faster!” I absolutely love the speed and being on the back – it gives me a chance to see the scenery! Nigel has been biking for 35 years, his first bike was a Honda RV100 and now we are on a Honda VRF 1200.

What trips have you been on?
Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia, Corsica and France – The Grand tour and Spain – Picos and Portugal. We are also booked onto the Pacific North West tour of the USA later in the year.

Why did you choose to ride with Magellan?
We had a gap between doing tours alone and with other companies then we decided to get back into it. We did some research online and at the last minute found Magellan. We had so many problems with other companies not getting back to us and ignoring messages. When we rang Felix we found out he was leading a tour, but he still made the time to get back to us, it was refreshing! After chatting to him we booked straight away.

What stood out about your Magellan tour/tours?
We loved meeting so many lovely and like minded people. Felix and Mark are excellent tour guides, both were so  helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. During our first tour we had pretty much decided to book a second one! We booked straight away once we got home!

What worries did you have that ended up being okay?
No real worries to be honest because everything was made so clear before the trip, with all the amazing information and tour packs etc. It all ran so smoothly.  One of the great things is that even though you are in group its made clear throughout the tour that its your individual holiday and the guide is just there to facilitate it. If you want to go off on your own for a bit, or miss a coffee stop to go somewhere else as long as you let the guide know so they don’t worry you can do what you want. That freedom makes it feel far more like a holiday and less like a school trip!

How did you find the hotels and the guides?
Initially we were a little apprehensive about the hotel standards but we couldn’t fault them on any of the tours we’ve done – nice rooms and staff etc.  We’d say the more tours we’ve done with Magellan the better they have got, so it’s obvious they’re working hard to constantly refine their hotel choices.

What touring did you do before you found Magellan tours
We’ve ridden the whole of Europe on various different tours and used other tour companies but it’s been much less stressful riding with Magellan because everything is all handled, you don’t have to worry about a thing, you just have to enjoy your holiday!
