Billy’s Morocco tour report!

2018-06-07T14:51:34+00:00

MOROCCO April 2018 Trip Report. This years first outing to Morocco was a real mixed bag! We had Rain, Sleet, Snow and occasional winds to contend with.   More importantly though, we had a great bunch of bikers who had the guts and determination to push past those first 4 days and reach the 34 degrees of the Sahara! Outskirts of Madrid! After we all met up at the ferry terminal in Plymouth, we boarded the ferry that would gently carry us from good old Britain to the northern port town of Santander in Spain.   Once aboard the hulking [...]

Cuba fly ride tour 2018 with Ernesto Guevara

2018-04-03T13:36:11+00:00

Cuba 2018 Havana / Cienfuegos / Trinidad / Topes de Collantes / Cayo Santa María / Santa Clara / Las Terrazas For our trips in Cuba we have created a very unique partnership with Ernesto Guevara, his wife Maria and his best friend Camilo. Ernesto is in the unusual position to have “access” to the only big bikes in the country and along with Ina, (his government sanctioned guide) he runs trips with us around the island for clients from every corner of the world. This tour is unique and unlike anything else, it’s as much a cultural introduction Cuba, it’s history [...]

Morocco: Trip report 2017

2017-11-10T17:09:22+00:00

Well well well,    Where do I begin? Imagine waking up and telling yourself "think I'll head to North Africa on my motorbike" That's what happened this year for an amazing group of people who decided to join Felix, Storm and myself, on what can only be described as a life changing experience. We all met up in Plymouth just outside the ferry check in point and made our introductions.   A wonderful mix of people all eager and excited, on shiny magnificent motorcycles, polished, serviced and ready to take us deep into the Sahara and back again.   We had some veteran [...]

Spain Grand Tour trip report

2017-10-19T20:03:35+00:00

Spain Grand Tour - 2017 We all met up as planned at Plymouth in some unsavoury weather. Having boarded the ferry, there was no stopping us! We were all onboard and raring to go, albeit that some were struck with the dreaded sea bug (including the guide)eek! Fortunately after getting to know each other at the bar and surviving through a turbulent night on the seas, we arrived in warm but not so sunny Santander. Santander, although a nice place i’m sure, is busy and not conducive to enjoying twisties on the bikes, so off we went in search of [...]

Balkans trip report: Apple crumble anyone?

2017-10-10T11:03:40+00:00

A nice bright sunny Saturday in September found a group of motor-bikers waiting excitedly for our final member to arrive before we departed to catch our train under the Channel to begin our trip to the Balkans for the Magellan 2017 tour… Although Dave’s alarm didn’t go off and he arrived a bit late we all made our booking time at the check-in! It turns out that transitioning through tolls with wet tickets is a little tough and the French toll system is frustrating, but with a bit of patience we even managed to help a German driver whose credit [...]

Norway Trip Report

2017-09-28T18:22:46+00:00

So there we were, me and Mark having been on the road for 6 hours and we should have been nearing the port in Harwich and the meeting point but due to the ever present roadworks on the way out of Cornwall and then constant end to end tailbacks on the motorways afterwards we were less than half way there! Roll on getting over the channel and into Europe, you forget how wonderful it is riding over there until you’re faced with how full and boring our road network is. We were heading up to meet our fellow tourers for [...]

Austrian Tyrol and Swiss Alps Trip Report

2017-09-17T12:17:27+00:00

By July with summer in full swing I'm starting to get itchy tyres and feeling the need to be out on the bike enjoying the sunshine. What better way to scratch that itch than to spend 10 days exploring some of the best mountain roads Europe has to offer? Well actually, the only way I can think of is to do it with 15 like-minded bikers who I can share a beer and swap stories with in the evening!  That's exactly what Magellan's 2017 Austrian Tyrol and Swiss Alps tour provided. Simplicity and a lack of hassle characterises the entire [...]

Spain: Picos and Portugal Alison and Martin trip report

2017-09-18T16:55:46+00:00

So there we were, all booked up for our second tour with Magellan. Hardly surprising after the amazing experience we enjoyed last year on the tour of Italy, and we were not alone in this repeat venture as nine of our fellow riders from the Italy tour were all booked up too. We were so excited to share the Spain adventure with familiar faces and to meet people new to the experience. New for this year were the “Magellan Ride the World” T-shirts, a brilliant idea! When ours arrived I was like a kid at Christmas, I ripped open the [...]
