We’ve just come back from a wonderful few days doing the Off Road Skills course with Simon Pavey’s crew in the Brecon Beacons. Despite zero offroad experience we’ve had an amazing time, it truly is remarkable what they can get you to do on such big bikes.
We’ve had so much fun in fact that we’re organising the 2017 reunion there over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend (16th and 17th of April) for previous customers and new tourers alike to try out their OffRoadSkills course. As always feel free to bring along any mates who might enjoy it and of course partners are welcome too!
You’ll spend 2 days being taken from zero to hero by their fantastic team, riding offroad on their bikes with choices available from the 650GS all the way up to the R1200GS. You’ll cover slow speed control and balance before moving onto riding on gravel, mud, hill ascents and much more.
No off-road experience required
2017 BMW adventure bikes provided
Ideal off-road introduction or refresher
Open to any rider, male or female, with a full motorcycle licence
If its your first time then they do a very accessible level 1 course or for returning off roaders they will also be running the level 2 and 3 courses as well.
There are very limited spaces available on the course and its first come first served so if you’re game get booked up ASAP (more details below).
There are a variety of great B&Bs in the area to choose from at very reasonable rates or for those coming down with pillions, or partners in the car who might want a bit of a pamper during the day, then Swansea is only about 25 minutes away and has a wide range of nice hotels too.
If you want to come down and join us but don’t fancy the offroading or you want to come down a day or two early (as I will be!) and explore Wales we’ve got just the ticket.
We’ve got a selection of routes organised around the area for you to pick and choose from ranging from 20 to 120 miles. On top of this if you fancy trying out another bike the guys at OffRoadSkills can rent you a new R1200GS, R 1200 R or the sensational S 1000 XR. They’ll even include a satnav with your routes pre loaded!
The dates are Sunday 16th and Monday 17th of April but I’m sure a few of you will head down early and get some riding in in Wales on the Friday and Saturday as well!
The off road course costs £499 for the two days including adventure bike hire, food and drinks during the days and a hearty group meal on the Sunday night.
As a pressie from MAGELLAN to say thanks to you all for your continued custom we’ll treat everyone to a pair of rental motocross boots (worth £25) and a drink in the bar to toast the start of the season!
Spaces are going to be very limited on this so get booked up now to avoid disappointment…
Bookings can be made direct with Nick Linfield at World of BMW by phone on 08000131282. Quote reference “Magellan” when booking and specify what level course you’d like to do. He’ll then send you out details of accommodation options etc…
If anyone wants to come down without doing the course let us know and we can suggest some hotels, help organise the rideouts and arrange to have you join the offroading group meal :0)
Really looking forward to seeing you all there!
Felix and the team @ MAGELLAN
