We are back from our Mongolian adventure and what a trip it’s been. Nothing prepares you for the vastness of the steppe and the friendliness of the Mongolian people. Lots of long days on the bike were made more than worth it by some of the most dramatic and awe inspiring scenery to be found anywhere.
The beauty of Mongolia is that is truly is one of the last remaining proper wildernesses, you can step off the plane hop on your bike and be out in the middle of nowhere in less than an hour. No land ownership, no fences, no roads just mile after mile and hour after hour of rolling landscapes dotted around with the occasional Ger.
We started off crossing the open steppe from Ulaan Baator, camped amongst wild horses and enjoyed the hospitality, free bed and warm arak of some local families on more than one occasion.
From the rolling green hills and smooth single track paths we rode past some old temples
and then ventured further south into the Gobi to really get our teeth into some sandy off-roading
and camel spotting!
We had plenty of time for a little detour past a pretty spectacular waterfall
before heading back to Ulaan Baator for some cowboy boot shopping!
Our 2015 tour is already fully booked but we are hoping to add more dates soon so watch this space for more info…
