MAY 19TH – JUNE 1ST 2018     14 DAYS FROM £1799

Escorted Motorcycle Tour of France and Corsica: Often overlooked in favour of its neighbours further afield, France offers some of the finest scenery and roads available to the motorcyclist in Europe while Corsica’s deserted mountain roads and white sandy beaches need to be seen to be believed.

This 14 day tour aims to show you some of the best of both of these. From jaunts into the mountains of the Jura and dramatic alpine passes in the Alps proper we descend the length of the country riding some of the quietest and most dramatic roads. The Route Napoleon and gorge in Verdon offer a mix of majestic natural beauty and perfect tarmac while the French Riviera should satisfy your inner billionaire.

We take the ferry across to Corsica and enjoy three days relaxing by the beaches and riding the stunning cols before making our way back across to the mainland . We then cross the country and ride up towards the lower Pyrenees, over the tallest vehicular bridge in the world in Millau, glide through national parks and take in the sights and smells of the Auvergne. In all an unforgettable trip containing everything that makes France and Corsica such perfect destinations for avid bikers.

Day 1 / 271 miles From Calais we cross the country and make our way along the beautiful rural roads of northern France to Verdun and the famous Douaumont ossuary WW1 war memorial at Verdun, then on to our hotel.

Day 2 / 240 miles Today takes us up into the Vosges Mountains and some truly dramatic scenery before settling in to our second overnight stop near the border with Switzerland.

Day 3 / 168 miles Our first full day in the mountains sees you conquering spectacular alpine roads all day long. Starting with the Jura Moutains and leading down past Geneva, the Massif de Bauges, Chambery and finally into Albertville..

Day 4 / 151 miles From Grenoble another day of sublime riding joining the famous “Route Napoleon”, along the D900 and Luberon which brings us to our base for the next 2 nights. Weather dependant we may also travel along the Routes des Grandes alps to really get a taste of the best the region has to offer.

Day 5 / Either kick back and relax around town checking out some of the stunning local roads or embark upon an organised ride out to Europe’s answer to the Grand Canyon. The Gorges du Verdon form a truly impressive canyon with walls 2,000 feet high. We spend an entire day riding the curves around the canyon, not only the famous northern side but also the often overlooked and aptly named Corniche Sublime on the southern rim.

Day 6 / 134 miles Today is your chance to indulge your inner billionaire by riding along the coastal roads of the french riviera. We cruise along the Mediterranean via Cannes (adding in Nice and Monaco if you fancy a longer day in the saddle) before catching our overnight ferry to Corsica.

Day 7,8,9 We spend three days on the island and you can either join us on organised ride outs along the coastal cliffs, over mountain passes and through granite gorges or relax by the pool and down by the beach before exploring the local towns and villages.

Day 10 / 230 miles Getting off the ferry we have a leisurely cruising morning across the south of the country through the low hills and national park of Cevennes to Millau. Taking in the best and quietest roads in the lower Pyrenees, our overnight stop is within striking distance of the Millau Viaduct, the tallest vehicular bridge in the world.

Day 11 / 204 miles Today starts by visiting the Millau Viaduct, this takes us up towards the Limousin region and the town of Treignac on the banks of the Vezere, our base for the next 2 nights.

Day 12 / 168 miles A rideout day taking a loop through the volcanic region of Auverge, popular on the Tour de France circuit. We cross the dordogne and visit the dormant volcano of Puy Mary before a well deserved rest back at base.

Day 13 / 248 miles From Treignac we continue back northwards with a leisurely ride through rural France and the tranquil National Park at La Brenne. We skirt Orleans and the Loire valley to take us to our final evening stop in Chartres where we take in a night time walking tour of the city and its festival of lights.

Day 14 / 212 miles Hearty breakfast and then onto the channel tunnel for the final leg of the trip home…

I would recommend Magellan to anyone without a second’s hesitation… I had all the usual concerns around how the itinerary would be managed and how we would fare but it’s fair to say that I had absolutely no cause for worry – the experience was incredible in every way! The routes from Magellan opened our eyes to everything the country had to offer, kept us all entertained and expertly took care of all logistical issues. Thanks for everything!

If you want to experience a French motorcyclist’s paradise, ride around Corsica. The Mediterranean island offers rugged rocky scenery and wooded hills, and to top it all off, glorious sandy beaches to relax on after your tour. Bikers who can handle hairpin curves love the rough asphalt that gives them a great grip on many of the roads, though it can shorten the life of their tires.
