Escorted Motorcycle Tour of the Balkans: We ride through many fine countries on our motorcycle tours but few offer the diversity and beauty of the Balkan states of Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia. This really is motorcycling at its best, vast mountain ranges, beautiful coastlines and everything in between all with the unmistakable sparkle of the Mediterranean.

We start off by crossing France and Germany, taking time to ride the famous B500 in the black forest and the fast curves of southern Bavaria. From here we cross into Slovenia via the tremendous Grossglockner high alpine road with its lakes and glaciers framing the stunning views. We have time to explore Slovenia visiting the cave systems and castles before making our way across to Croatia to the UNESCO world heritage site of the Plitvice Lakes National Park with a full day off here to explore.

We continue southwards and have days off in Sarajevo and Dubrovnik to explore the culture and terrible histories of these two fantastic cities. Coming back up the Dalmatian coast the unspoilt coastline needs to be ridden to be believed, with over 1200 islands and some truly stunning roads you will be in biker heaven.

After reaching the Julian alps in Slovenia we make our way back up via Italy to ride the Timmelsjoch pass and then across into Austria and through southern Germany. Our final foray is in the French Vosges mountains on the way home, a wonderful way to finish an unforgettable trip.

Highlights of the tour

  • The B500 in the German Black Forest, a fast wide road across the forest ridge that constantly appears in the top 10 biking roads of the world
  • Grossglockner High alpine road and glaciers
  • The dramatic Postojna cave system with its 22km of caverns and the castle at Predjama.
  • Free days to explore Sarajevo and Dubrovnik
  • Stunning riding up the Dalmatian Coast past Split and the 1200 islands scattered out to sea
  • The world famous Timmelsjoch pass
  • Route des Crêtes in the Vosges Mountains

Tours like this don’t just happen, Felix and the team must have worked & researched very hard. The mountains and gorges were stunning, that and a brilliant group of like minded bikers were the highlights. Felix “the great” is a star. He took special care of me when I went down with a bug despite not feeling great himself. That was very much appreciated!

Day 1 / 288 miles We start with a day’s cross country ride straight off the Tunnel through northern France riding along the Route D Epinal to our hotel at the edge of the Lorraine National Park.

Day 2 / 211 miles After a visit to the WWI memorial at Verdun the real riding begins. lunch is taken in eastern France and then we enter Germany via the beautiful sweeping curves of the Vosges mountains. The afternoon brings us into the Black Forest region before we reach our well-deserved hotel near Baden-Baden.

Day 3 / 330 miles Begins with the infamous B500 with its smooth tarmac and flowing curves and takes us through Bavaria before pushing on to our overnight stop in the picturesque town of Zel am See.

Day 4 / Your choice of either riding the famous Grossglockner high alpine road, the highest surfaced mountain pass in Austria or a day trip up to the Eagle’s nest in Berchtesgaden, Hitler’s summer retreat.

Day 5 / 216 miles Today we tackle the Grossglockner high alpine road, the highest surfaced mountain pass in Austria, past glaciers and lakes. This really is riding at its best! Once you’ve recovered from the views up here we head down into Slovenia to Postojna.

Day 6 / 167 miles This morning we visit the dramatic Postojna cave system with its 22km of caverns. We also have a chance to go and checkout the castle at Predjama before our short ride in the afternoon to our hotel near the Plitvice Lakes National Park world heritage site.

Day 7 / Day off the bikes today to explore the UNESCO world heritage site in Plitvice.

Day 8 / 207 miles Our destination today is the Bosnian city of Sarajevo, while famous for its turbulent role in the Yugoslav civil war of the 1990s the city has now all but recovered and is considered to be one of the most culturally varied and historically interesting cities in Europe. We stay in the heart of the old town for two nights allowing us to soak up everything on offer.

Day 16 / 380 miles Hearty breakfast before heading off on a cross country day through France to the channel tunnel for the final leg of the trip home…

Back in the day to day routine in the UK it seems like a dream when I think back to my tour, the best scenery, food and roads I have ever experienced on a motorcycle. If I ever had any fears or problems I knew I could come to you at any time and you would bend over backwards to help. The support throughout was excellent and the knowledge that at the end of the day’s riding we would be safely tucked up in a warm bed and have had a hearty dinner meant we could enjoy every minute to the fullest.
