Day 1 Starting in Plymouth you take the ferry to Santander, aboard you can relax in the comfort of an ensuite cabin, enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants on board, have some drinks in the bar or even watch a film in the cinema.
Day 2 / 114 miles Scenic ride towards the mountains, lakes and gorges of the region gives you your first taste of the Picos de Europa.
Day 3 / 160 miles Continuing our journey through this biking mecca you wind via little sleepy Spanish towns along smooth ribbons of empty roads and onto your overnight stop on the Pilgrim Trail.
Day 4 / 169 miles From here unspoilt sweeping empty roads lead you through the National park and its scented forests towards the pilgrimage destination of Santiago de Compostela.
Day 5 / Day off to explore this famous cathedral city or we’ll have a rideout planned for those who want more saddle time!
Day 6 / 170 miles Across the quieter, even smoother roads of the high hills of western Galicia we ride past Ourense and cross the border through the Da Peneda-Gerês National Park before heading towards Guimaraes the ancient capital of Portugal. Your hotel in the nearby town is the perfect spot for you to relax and enjoy your next evening.
Day 7 / 177 miles You leave the ancient capital and journey through the wine growing region of the Duoro valley and onto the blissful roads of the Serra de Estrela national park. Taking in the mountain and valley views on the way to your hotel in the Cova de Beira Valley where you will spend the next 2 nights.
Day 8 / 90 miles Have a well-earned day off enjoying the scenery, swimming pool, spa facilities and local walks or head off on the optional ride out through the national park to the Torre, the highest point in the Serra da Estela mountain range (an indeed mainland Portugal).
Day 9 / 215 miles You cross back into Spain through the Sierra de la Culebra hunting reserve in the foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains, famous as one of the last places you can see an Iberian Wolf in the wild. You can then share you near wolf sighting stories at the next hotel before settling down for dinner!
Day 10 / 195 miles Heading back north you cruise through the ever changing countryside, the lake of Riano with its stunning mountains provides the backdrop for your lunch stop. Continuing on north you journey up to the hotel back in the Picos de Europa.
Day 11 / 117 miles Hearty breakfast and then on through the rolling countryside towards Santander to get the overnight ferry for the final leg of the trip home…
Day 12 Arrive home safe and sound and make your friends jealous with your tales of the tour!
