From home on your own motorcycle, or on a rental motorcycle from London, ride to the Peak District National Park to meet your guide and tour mates, breaking the ice over dinner. The next day, you’ll head to Holyhead Port for your crossing to Ireland. After docking, you’ll stay overnight in Balbriggan, a coastal town just outside Dublin, before riding up the east coast to Belfast, arriving in time to spend the afternoon exploring the city. The following day is dedicated to discovering Belfast, with a visit to the Titanic Quarter at the docks, where you can learn about the history of the world’s most famous passenger ship and explore the beautifully restored SS Nomadic, Titanic’s sister ship and the last surviving White Star liner. Optional excursions include a tour of the infamous Crumlin Road Jail, a walk through the lush botanical gardens, or a visit to Queen’s University.

From Belfast, we journey to Londonderry, with plenty to see along the way—including visits to two iconic Irish sites: the Giant’s Causeway and Bushmills, the birthplace of modern Irish whiskey, where you can take a distillery tour. The next day offers a relaxing ride to Enniscrone as you cruise down the west coast of Ireland, crossing into the Irish Republic. Our lunch stop includes an optional water-bus tour of Donegal Bay, a must-do if time and tide allow!

Beautiful roads & scenery

Heading south to Galway Bay, we find ourselves on some of the very best biking roads in Ireland, as voted by local bikers. Following our waypoints to stay on track, the route skirts both Ballycroy and Connemara National Parks—guaranteeing an appreciation for the Irish love of road racing!

Leaving Galway, we ride around (but not through!) the prehistoric bogs of Ireland, including the famous Maghera and Woodcock Hill bogs. After lunch, we find ourselves on one of the most scenic roads in Ireland: the internationally renowned World Heritage route known as the Ring of Kerry. This coastal route is a favorite among Irish bikers and is widely acclaimed as one of the top five most beautiful road journeys in the British Isles.

 

 

Next, we head to Waterford, rich with Viking history. Along the way, we ride around Kenmare Bay, pass more prehistoric peat bogs, and follow the River Lee to Macroom. From there, it’s a short ride to Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the world-famous Blarney Stone, which—according to Irish legend—bestows the ‘gift of the gab.’

Our final day in Ireland is a short one, as the ferry check-in closes at 2 p.m. However, we’ll enjoy some scenic roads through Wicklow Mountains National Park and have the chance to pick up last-minute souvenirs. From here, we cross to Holyhead on the island of Anglesey and back to the British mainland. Our last night of the tour is spent in the beautiful Peak District National Park, where you can prepare to head home the next day—or stick around to explore the Peaks before joining our Scotland tour heading north!

If you’ve never been across the sea to Ireland, believe us there is no better way to see the Emerald Isle in all its glory than on this tour!

Day 1 Arrival

Ride to the Peak District National Park to meet your guide and group, and get to know everyone over dinner.

Day 2 150 Miles

Head to Holyhead for the ferry to Dublin, then continue on to Balbriggan on the coast for the night.

Day 3 165 Miles

Dublin to Belfast: Ride up the east coast of Ireland, stopping at Kirkistown motor racing circuit, home of the Kirkistown 500, and Strangford Lough. Arrive in Belfast with time to start exploring in the afternoon.

Day 4 Explore Day

Take a day off the bike to explore Belfast. Visit the Titanic Museum and Maritime Belfast, stroll through the botanical gardens, or explore the University Quarter.

Day 5 144 Miles

Enjoy scenic coastal riding with stops at a haunted house, the Giant’s Causeway, and the oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland.

Day 6 165 Miles

A beautiful, classic Magellan riding day down the west coast, featuring roads voted the best in Ireland by local bikers. Today’s highlights include a water-bus tour of Donegal Bay and stunning views.

Day 7 195 Miles

Ride through National Parks and past peat bogs, following more of Ireland’s top biking roads as you continue down the west coast.

Day 8 224 Miles

Visit Limerick and the stunning Crag Caves before riding to your hotel in Killarney.

Day 9 111 miles

A day to ride or rest. If you’re up for it, take on the world-renowned Ring of Kerry, a UNESCO World Heritage route.

Day 10 216 Miles

Ride around Kenmare Bay and past prehistoric peat bogs, then visit Blarney Castle to kiss the famous Blarney Stone. Continue to Waterford, home of Waterford Crystal and the Viking Discovery Triangle.

Day 11 109 Miles

Visit a Celtic craft center and an ancient monastery, then ride through the Wicklow Mountains on your way back to Dublin for the 2 p.m. ferry to Holyhead, Wales.

Day 12 150 Miles

From Wales, ride back to the Peak District National Park in the heart of the English Midlands.

Day 13 Departure

Say farewell to your touring buddies and depart for home—or explore the Peaks before joining our Scotland tour.

Common questions about this trip

Where does this tour start?

This tour meets in the Peak District, but we can easily arrange additional nights to fit your schedule—just let us know when you book. If you’re renting a motorcycle, the tour will start from our rental facility in southeast England, near London.

Can I choose a different crossing to Ireland?

Absolutely. Alternate ferry routes include Liverpool, Cairnryan, or Fishguard. If you prefer to make your own way to Dublin and join the route on the morning of Day 3, just let us know in the comments box when booking, and we’ll deduct the cost of the outbound crossing from your trip.

What’s the weather like on this tour?

We select tour dates to take advantage of the best weather and to avoid the peak season crowds. However, as with any trip in the UK, you could experience sunshine, rain, or anything in between. A sensible mix of vented gear, waterproofs, and base layers should cover all possibilities. Full kit and packing lists are provided, and we’re happy to offer advice on what to pack.
