BEST TIME TO GO

April to October

Starting with a night in Folkestone, we ride cross-country the following day to Châlons-en-Champagne for our first overnight in France stop. The next day we ride through eastern France and enter Germany via the stunning Vosges Mountains. This natural heritage site is home to exhilarating passes and picturesque scenery that make you want to get lost in its tree-lined hairpins. But there’s more still to come.

This afternoon brings us into the Black Forest region before reaching our lovely little hotel for the next 3 nights near Baden-Baden, famous for its hot springs. While here, you can have some quality time off the bike to explore the town and relax. Or if you’re still itching for more saddle time, there are plenty of fantastic ride-outs to choose from!

Beautiful Black Forest

You have a broad range of rideout day options with several destinations to pick and choose from, including Europe’s highest waterfall in the picturesque town of Triberg and the beautiful Lake Titisee, where you can swim, rent a boat, or simply relax on the shores.

You can also choose to visit the thermal spas in Baden-Baden, or the famous Red Cathedral in Freiburg, whose creators used ancient nanotechnology to tint its windows red. Finally, there is Lake Constance, a series of three beautiful lakes at the foot of the Rhine.

Get your biking bucket list out! We’ve got one of Europe’s most amazing motorcycling roads lined up! The B500 has long been considered a motorcyclist's dream. Riding from Baden-Baden through the Black Forest, it delivers on its promise of being one of the best with its scenic beauty and hairpin bends to keep even the most seasoned riders on their toes!

You then head back to the lovely Vosges Mountains via the acclaimed Route des Cretes, providing panoramic views of beautiful countryside extending as far as the eye can see, with a selection of rideouts to choose from here again. Then it's on to the WW1 war memorial at Verdun before heading to Calais for your final night, and the Eurotunnel home the next morning.

Have you always wanted to experience the German Black Forest?  With this breathtaking tour you can!

Tour highlights

Cathedral City of Reims and disused GP circuit: Reims Gueux was the second location of the Grand Prix, several Formula One races, and MotoGP. You will ride on a section of the old track past the pits and grandstand.

The B500: The B500 is consistently listed in the top ten biking roads in the world, and it’s not difficult to see why when you’re on the twists and curves through the forest.

Germany Black Forest
'What an awesome trip! The guys at Magellan went out of their way to make sure that we all had a great time, and some of the roads were epic, with scenery to match.
I would recommend the company to anyone and hope to be on another Magellan Tours trip again soon, just need to choose the itinerary! Thanks again.'

Deep forests and the twisty roads of the Vosges Mountains: Take a ride on a section of the Tour de France course in the Vosges Mountains. A known series of local biker roads in the deep leafy forests makes this as picturesque as it is fun!

Triberg, the location of Europe’s highest waterfall: Germany’s highest waterfall, which flows 163 meters down to the river Gutach, is set in the picturesque town of Triberg. This lovely little town is well worth a visit, and the waterfall is truly spectacular.

Lake Titisee: Lake Titisee is a popular spot for summer swims or a peaceful row, deep in the heart of the Alps. It is situated just a stone’s throw from the busy city of Freiburg, but offers a quiet and relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle.

Red cathedral in Freiburg: Freiburg Minster is the red cathedral in Freiburg with deep red windows constructed in the 1200s.

Thermal springs in Baden-Baden: Baden-Baden (“Bath Bath”), is a place famous for its hot springs. The baths at Baden-Baden have hosted famous names from Roman emperors to Napoleon.
