Alaska The Last Frontier Trip Report August 2023
Day 1
Uneventful flight from Seattle to Anchorage and a brief taxi ride to MotoQuest where we met Felix, Naomi, Bill, Drew and Marion. Paperwork sorted and bikes fitted with our preferred electric wiring for sat navs, heated clothing and Go Pro cameras. Familiarisation talk from MotoQuest before we rode them to the hotel. Evening meal with everyone where we were briefed on safety managing some of the wildlife hazards that we don’t find in the UK or Europe!
10.30 pm and we are repacking our bags, ready for the start of a real adventure.
Weather forecast for tomorrow looks dry – fingers crossed. – John Watson
Day 2
Aaaaaaand we’re off, the Alaska adventure is well and truly under way with a fresh set of intrepid explorers. After arriving in Anchorage yesterday we got our bikes all setup and the rig packed before a Mexican family-style welcome dinner hosted by Chef Naomi!
Today we saddled up and soon found ourselves in the midst of the beauty that this fantastic state is known for, riding down through the Kenai peninsula we were treated to epic views and added eagles and a porcupine to our wildlife spotting tally after yesterday’s family of moose. We dined in style as ever and tomorrow the group is splitting up for a glacier hike and some off-road shenanigans…more updates to come…
