Hi, I’m Paul Paton—also known as “the Welsh Guide”. I’m 54 and currently live in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, right on the edge of the magnificent Brecon Beacons National Park, which is a biker’s paradise. I’ve been riding bikes all my life, starting on a scrambler when I was about eight years old. My current touring bike is a BMW R1250 GSA.
I run my own heating business—The Boiler Doctor Ltd—to pay the bills, but my real passion has always been motorbikes.
My first Magellan tour was to Croatia in 2017 as a customer, and after that trip I joined the team as a guide.
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many interesting and varied people over the years while doing what I love most: riding and socialising. I’m definitely a people person, and I love a bit of banter and making new friends. Picking a favourite tour is hard, as I’ve been lucky enough to do quite a few—but for me, it’s the people who make a tour, not always the destination. That said, if I had to choose, it would be the Italy Dolomites tour, closely followed by Croatia.
Hopefully we’ll tour together soon!
