After flying into Malaga, you’ll make your way to our staging hotel for the welcome dinner, where you’ll get to know your fellow riders. We start our sunny adventure the following day with a day’s training at a private 30-acre facility, where riders will be split by ability and put through the BMW-approved training program suitable for their level.

Put your new skills to good use the following day riding a day-long loop of local trails. You’ll hit gravel riverbeds, water crossings, hill climbs and secret tracks that you wouldn’t believe. After this, we all leave Malaga and head eastwards to Granada. The following day, we take on the Sierra Nevada off-road loop, offering some of the finest adventure bike riding anywhere in the world, there is also an option of a "rest day" here to explore the stunning Alhambra Palace and sample some of the fantastic local cuisine.

The final section of the tour takes us back south and west along the Mediterranean coast before returning to our staging hotel for the final night of the tour. The trip is perfect for riders of all ability levels and is supported throughout by Magellan’s team of certified Tour Guides and IIA BMW Motorrad off-road instructors.

Top-tier instruction: All our training is conducted by the best in the business—IIA BMW-certified off-road instructors who follow the BMW Motorrad methodology.

Real-world application: Put your newfound skills to the test with several days of mixed-surface riding, incorporating gravel roads, single tracks, and even the occasional (optional) water crossing!

'Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team, I had the best week and can't believe what I managed to get that GS to do! It's a real testament to the quality of the training that you helped such a novice to achieve so much in such a short period of time'
Karen J

Granada: Spain’s Andalusia region is stunning, and the city of Granada is no exception. Home to the Alhambra Palace, it’s also the location of our optional rest day.

Common questions about this trip

Is this trip suitable for pillions?

No, these training trips are geared towards solo riders in single or shared rooms only. However, if you’d like to bring your partner along for the social side of things, we can help arrange a rental car so they can follow the trip. Just drop the office an email, and we’ll take care of the rest. Alternatively, if you want to do some private training with a pillion, we can arrange this on dates that suit you. Again, get in touch with us directly, and we can price this up for you.

What ability levels are these tours designed for?

We cater for all abilities on these tours. We’ve had groups brand new to off-roading, groups of seasoned enduro riders, and everything in between. We tailor the training and riding elements of each tour to everyone’s level throughout, so you’re guaranteed to have a great time and learn a load of new skills, no matter your experience level.

How big are the groups on these trips

We split riders into small groups of around six per instructor for the training and riding sections to ensure an even spread of abilities and a personal experience for everyone. The group will meet up at lunch and coffee stops but is usually around 10-12 in total.

What bikes are available on these trips?

We have a fleet of the new R1300GS and F900GS bikes to choose from, with the option of lowered suspension on request.

How much of the trip is off-road?

Most of the trips end up being about 50% off-road and 50% paved, but we’ll tailor the riding on each trip to the riders’ ability and energy levels, so these percentages can fluctuate.

What’s the weather like on this tour?

We pick the date of this trip to get the best mix of riding conditions at the different elevations we cover. As you go to higher elevations, it can be a little chilly, but the rest of the trip should be sunny and warm. A sensible mix of vented kit, waterproofs, and some base layers should cover all eventualities.

Is what I hear about the Spanish not eating until 10pm correct?

The Spanish do indeed eat late; in fact, it’s not unusual for people to go out for dinner at 11 pm or later. However, we’ve tailored the trip to accommodate English sensibilities and rumbling bellies after a long day’s ride, so we normally eat between 8 and 8:30 pm.
